A continuation from Route 16 of Kanto, Route 17 will lead players to Route 18. There are long water channels that run down the route where surfing and fishing are allowed. Only by having a bike in the inventory will enable players to access this route. Many Poison and Fighting-type Pokémon are encountered from Trainers' battles here.
